  • what does the metal seat tag identify ?????

I recently removed the rear seat from a 1960 Lark and the seat had a metal tag about 1/2 x 2 attached by a hog ring and reads: Reynolds 1334160...inspection ?, assembler ? what does this mean ????...thanks...Brad

Most I have seen are the part number of the seat bottom assembly. These part numbers are not in the parts book, but SASCO has a book that lists interior trim part numbers. Reynolds may be the manufacturer.

Yep, it's one of the part numbers that Studebaker used to provide parts that does not appear in the dealer parts book. For example, they also did "half numbers" on rod and main bearing shells with a part number for each shell that does not show up in the dealer book.
You'll notice most of the soft trim is not listed in the books, but Studebaker still had to supply it to dealers and assigned numbers.

That's the reason that the parts division would insist on getting the body number info from a dealer ordering interior trim. They had particulars as to trim fitted and fabrics used logged against the body numbers on file.
