Does a late model pickup truck narrow bed have fender welt between fender and bed?

I am far from a truck expert, so I am open to correction on this. I do not believe that Studebaker used fender welting on the rear fenders of pickup trucks.

this topic came up quite a while ago-the best idea,I think,was to put a layer or 2 of good electrical tape on the mating suface,to minimize metal to metal contact,and prevent some paint damage.[put tape where it doesn't show when fender is installed]
