    Yesterday I got a phone call from a fellow looking for a NOS orange interior for a Avanti. When I tried to explain that those were long gone 20 years ago and that I was working on a close modern match, he insisted that he had to have NOS. He then went on to explain how rare and valuable his Avanti was and how much he was spending on a restoration at $85/hour. Seems he's in over 100K so far, hope it's a nice car.<g>

    It is against God's laws to not separate fools from their money. Actually, I think your "close modern match" was exactly the NOS interior he needed.[}]

      I've seen an Avanti with orange interior. Man, it was awful. (my opinion) Wonder why anyone would want orange interior... [?]

          I'll sell him my very original Avanti for half that!!!

          You can't just go out and buy 43 year old trunk carpet like mine! If the Keno Brothers from "Antiques Roadshow" were into old
          trunk-grade carpet, they'd go nuts. We're talking [u]real</u> patina.
          Why the tattered owners manual (complete with rusty staples) must be worth a fortune if you really want originality.

          It even has South Bend air in the tires.*

          *Don't tell him, but the last owner was in South Bend. Let's let him think it's OEM air.

              Yep, Bob, he started to lecture me about my lack of Avanti knowledge. Funny thing was, I was sitting in one, on my cordless as he was talking.

                Don't you wish you were the guy restoring it for him,at 85/hour?
                Where does one get jobs like that? I know if I found one that was steady,Id have fired up my last boiler.
                On second thought, mabey not,he sounds like the type that would drive you nuts,if a phillips screw was turned one degree of rotation past what the original in his picture had.

                    We all know these definitions:

                    NOS = New Old Stock

                    NORS = New Old Replacement Stock

                    I've seen another category from time to time and I call it:

                    NOJS = New Old JUNK Stock.

                    These are parts that have never been installed on a car, but are so deteriorated from sitting around in bad storage forever that you would never put them on a vehicle of any worth.

                          I remember seeing the pixs of SASCO's move. What a crying shame to see that source of goodies for our cars , go to ruin. [ or so it seemed to me ] Fingers crossed the Lark stuff was saved.
