I was wondering if that car was still around.
A fun ride in a Hawk of unknown vintage when I was about 10 was the thing that got me interested in Studebakers in the first place but it was probably that very movie car that restored my interest many years later. I know it had a hand in getting Studebakers added to my "life Gee-I-Always-Wanted-One-Of-Those list".

They should have left it the bright red like it was in the movie. Looks good dark though. I thought that Mr. Magoo's car was a Commander though. Guess not.

If 'we' buy it, we can store it at my shop, next to our 51 coupe. Althoug it would make the coupe look bad. Sure would be cool to have a bulletvertible around.

That car was restored by Morris Robichaud in Bashaw, Alberta, just about 60 miles up the road from my place. He had the car to a number of Stude events around here, before selling it to the Disney organization to make the movie. He had a deal to buy it back, once the filming was done, and did so, and then subsequently resold it.quote:Originally posted by Transtar56

If anybody here is interested in the car, be assured it is indeed a VERY nice, correctly-restored Champion. No way is it an old beater just gussied up for the movie, at least as long as it is in fact THE movie car, and not an impostor.
