I figure that just about any car priced at over $500 on EBAY warrants a firsthand inspection before I would bid on it! There was a Packebaker(good parts car, IMOH)4-sale that I could have looked at right on my way to York, if I'd been aware of it previously. But I wasn't then, and given the logistics(to get it here) and the fact that other bidders were anxious, I decided to pass. Didn't want to buy sight unseen, and get stuck with something that I couldn't justify paying a premium price for. As for that Lark or Cruiser or Whatever, Ii just can't judge from the description how sound it is--too much hype, there! But, if the seller holds out long enough, probably someone striken with nostalgia (or making a movie) will eventually pay the price just because it suits them, worth it or not.

Studebaker believed in them. Wagons with a third seat came standard from the factory with CaptiveAir tires and no spare.quote:Originally posted by 52hawk
I did notice the car sits up real healthy in the rear, even with 3 tires and wheels in the trunk. Springs must be in good shape..mines quite a bit lower, with just the spare in trunk.
A weird option on my '60- 4 white Captive air tires,Omit Spare tire,Omit jack and wrench.-Somebody must have really trusted those 'captive air tires!!

I guess that the market, including eBay, is glad of and works because there are others, like me, that regularly buy cars for more than $10,000 that they have not seen.quote:Originally posted by Packebaker

My whole thought is that I have the right to back out of a deal if the car was misrepresented, or if items that are rather obvious were not stated. Negative feedback is a two way street. I'd rather take a feedback hit (and the cost of gas) than to spend more money than a car is worth. If that red '54 was picked up by the new owner, I personally would have passed on the car.quote:Originally posted by Packebaker
