Hi
At the time of the announcement in '66, I've considered how it's a shame that Checker Motors didn't step in and buy the Hamilton operation, continue production of sedans and wagons in the rugged, heavy duty form to supplement their taxi line-up, hopefully still as Studebakers.
While their large taxis were well accepted in larger markets, a lighter, more efficient sedan would have quickly gained market for them for small city fleets, been a real plus with the energy crisis in the '70's.
Of course, they could have also offered non-taxi Studebakers for the faithful.
Just a thought for your consideration.
Regards
Steve
