  • Anybody bringing Lark fenders to York?

Need a set for my 60 conv't project. Thanks

I think that you were too late in posting this question, but there will probably be Lark fenders there. Most of the vendors would already be set up or at least well on their way to York at the time that you posted your question.

SASCO still lists left front fenders for the 1960 Convertibles (Part no. 1337305) for $295. Keep in mind the convertible fenders are a little different than the other models as they have a bracket welded on the wheel well for the brace that connects to the firewall. The convertible fenders will work on other models by removing or ignoring the bracket. Call SASCO to see if they still have these in stock, they were down to just a few left a while ago. My advice is to grab one if they still have them.
NOS right front fenders are tough to find, but there are some still around (be prepared, they are rare and pricy).

I have a near perfect right front assembly from a 61 but the molding holes would be in the wrong place and the headlight bucket panel is for dual headlights.

Rockne-I'm not sure how the 61 would work. Would it take more to modify it than patch the back of my original 60. Where are you located?

It would depend on how badly deteriorated your back edges are. It would require drilling out the spot welds in the headlight bucket panel of both assemblies and swapping them, filling the beltline molding holes and drilling new ones in the appropriate position.

Ideally, it would be nice to find the 1960 assembly you need. Alternatively, you could consider the fiberglass repops that are available. They are outer fenders only and, if that's your only requirement, the assembly I have would remain intact for someone who specifically needs a later dual headlight fender assembly.

I'll add a note of caution about using fiberglass fenders on a Lark convertible; not that it can't be done, but keep in mind the whole front sheet metal on a convertible is mounted much differently than on the rest of the line (except for the later sliding roof wagons). There are big cast iron weights that are hung off the front sheet metal and a brace from the fender to the firewall. I don't know how well fiberglass would hold up in this situation.

Well now that I have the fender home it is apparent that I bought the wrong fender. It must be off a 61-3 so now I need a pair of nice fenders for a 60. What a moron

Bugs Bunny pronounces that maroon and it may not be the case. What have you got that does not appear to fit?

Sign at the local junk yard: 'if you bought the wrong part, you now have a spare'[B)] You can probably at least break even or make a few bucks on that fender. Don't feel bad,I know all the sheet metal is different between 60-61,but I can't see it.As soon as the weather clears up around here,I plan to put my '60[4dr] next to a '61 in town-also a 4dr,to visualize the difference-just for my own satisfaction.
