Has anyone installed a rear air unit vs. under the dash/through the dash? I saw one on vintage air. Looked like it woudl be easy to install other than running a lot of hose under the car.

On the SDC Contacts page http://www.studebakerdriversclub.com/sdccontacts.asp is a listing for Milton Jones in the South Central zone. He owns an air conditioning place in Harlingen, TX. You may want to contact him for his advice/opinion, as I know he has put air conditioning in Studebakers.

Vintage makes a whole kit for the Stude V8, brackets, etc. I bought the underhood parts late last year. Plan to install this spring. I've got a Stude under dash unit for the evaporator part. Check Vintage Air's catalog for details.

I know a Kaiser man who installed rear air with vents only in the rear, front of the car stayed hot, rear cold.

I've heard good things from a local mechanic/hot rodder who really likes dealing with the folks at Hot Rod Air (www.hotrodair.com). They, like Vintage Air, are located in Texas (Seguin, I think), but they sell all over the country.
