  • A flea market find

Went to a flea market last weekend and found a December 1953 copy of [u]Science and Mechanics</u> magazine, in which they tested a '53 Studebaker pickup truck. They had almost nothing but praise for it. The one they tested had the big Commander 6 in it, and O/D.

The article opens with a picture of the Stude bounding semi-airborne across some rough terrain. There is another great shot, although small, of the testers backing the truck up a nearly vertical slope covered with gravel. They said it performed fine.

Only paid $2 for the magazine. Well worth it for the entertainment.

Yes, that's a very worthwhile article for truck fans. I bought a copy of it on eBay before I located a Stude truck to buy. Really made me salivate to get a truck even more.

I have a 1.71Mb PDF version of it on my website, if anyone wants to download it: http://rocketdillo.com/studebaker/mi...ckup_Truck.pdf
