I've got the underchassis spare tire set up as well, so I guess I'd have to have them come out the sides. I hadn't thought about that. I was hoping that he did the installation as well so as to forego the taxation that our respective gov'ts would charge.
And Sterling Heights? Is that across the river from Courtright/Mooretown? That general neck of the woods? Kevin in the Stoogebaker

Kevin, I'm approximately 10 miles north of Dertroit in the northeast suburbs. I'm about 10 miles west of I-94. I grew up a block or so off Lake St. Clair.

I know where you're at now. I pass by there on the ship everytime I'm in the not so Great Lake St. Clair. From the ship I can see the mansions of St. Clair Shores. Nice area. I'm hoping to drive to the ship after my first short summer vacation, so I could be cruising on by. Kevin in the Stoogebaker

Kevin...its not a big job putting the exhaust on anyways. As far as any tax on that stuff taking it back across to the states I think your under what you are allowed to bring back per day anyways. Bring someone else if you can because you'd both be able to bring back the same amount , that would cinch it for sure. Dons about 1 hour and 15 minutes from the border , very easy to find , hes only about a mile off the 401 which is the major cross Ontario link .

Oh and by the way ...I think the exhaust suites the truck better coming off the sides just behind the rear wheels If you'd like I can send you a pic of mine showing the exhaust....haven't figured out yet how you post pics here

That sounds good. I haven't driven into or out of Canada in some time. Every time I cross the border its on a ship and they always seem to worry more about cigarettes than anything else. And yeah, I agree that the pipes would look right coming out behind the wheels.
I put 150 miles on the truck today and put in 10.3 GL. That's about 14.7 MPG. Almost all of those miles were highway at between 65-70mph. I figure the dual exhaust ought to bump that number up a little. Later Kevin in the Stoogebaker

Well you might get a bit better with duals ...I kept track of mine when we took it to Charlotte and back and I averaged just over 16 mpg and that was all intersate roads and about 65 to 70 mph. Had a few hills to climb as well so i didn't think that was too bad. I take you have a 289 in there? Thats what mine is .

Yup 289cid she be. And 16 mpg on the hiway was what I was figuring with the 2 1/4" duals. Also I was reading the thread on the tech talk section on the advantages/disadvantages of going with electronic or pertronix ignition vice the old points. It seems most everyone was going on about reliability. I had always heard that gas milage was one of the advantages. Could I have been (Gasp!) wrong! I thought I was wrong once, but I made a mistake. I just visited with the son of the gentleman that is selling the car. I'm going to try to make it over to Guthrie this week-end, just to admire it before it leaves the area.

It's not every day I get to see anything this unique, old, original, and nice in my neighborhood.

I don't know if anybody here is bidding on it, but if you are, or think you might, let me know if there is anything you would like me to check out on it for you.
