  • '63 Lark Daytona

Nick's Salvage in San Antonio has a '63 Lark Daytona with
good body. They've pulled the V8. Otherwise I think its
complete. Paint is fair condition. I don't see any rust
    issues.

I am not familiar with these cars, it is a hardtop with
    bucket seats.

Man, somebody should grab that one. Besides being a nice car as is, it has the heavy gauge frame. I used the frame off a trashed 63 hardtop on my 65 2-dr sedan. The 2-dr sedan has a light gauge frame. Mine was cracked. The heavy metal in the hardtop frame was just the ticket.

It needs interior work. The bumpers have some flaws.
The hood was removed when the motor came out. Except
for the motor and tranmission it's complete but I don't
know how long it'll stay together at this salvage
yard. The body is very straight, it's painted a
      cream color.

Nicks is on Roosevelt Ave in SA Texas. This salvage yard
      specializes in older cars.

Heh, thanks, but someone else will have to check that one out. I am in Fairbanks, Alaska.

All Studebakers suffer from frames that are too flexible, but some are worse than others and that is partly because thinner metal was used on the frames of some models. My shop manual gives the following information on frame thickness for US and Canada:

        63S model F: 14 gauge
        63S/63V model P : 11 gauge
        63S/63V models K,J,Y,L,Taxi, and Police: 11 gauge
        63V model F: 13 gauge

All export models had 11 gauge frames

As you can see, if you want the best frame produced for a 2-door sedan, you need to get a frame off a 2-door hardtop.

Just some trivia for anyone building up a 2-dr sedan within reach of San Antonio...

What's the asking price for this car ? Us in the NE drool for dry cars. I guess shipping to be around $1200. You couldn't buy a solid car for that here....
