I think we Stude guys, T-bird guys, Kaiser guys, etc., need to get together and swap stamps so we could have more of the stamps WE each want.

Our local post office had 3 of the plaques that are basically blow-ups of the Stude stamp. I bought one and the next time I was back, the other two were gone. BTW, I've only seen these plaques for the Stude stamp - not the other cars depicted in the set. Does anyone know if it was only the Stude that made it to plaque status?[?]

Regarding the site address not working, I just tried it again and it went through. The link in the posting may have included the period at the end of the sentence which is problematic. The T-bird site is:

Go to Calendar of Events at the bottom, then click on the September 10 date shown.

The post office I go to had the lapel pins and key chains for the Stude but not the plaque. They said that they would get post cards
after the stamp comes out.Now I need to go in and bug them to get some plaques. I have to have a least one of each.
Bob how is your 53 coming? I finaly got mine painted.

I was shown a paper in the Yuma, AZ. Post Office that showed the release date to be in Oct. now. Has anyone else ran across this?

My sources still show August 20 to be the official luanch date. The only other public event on the boards is this local event in Deer Park, IL on 9/10/05.

My local, small town post office knows nothing of these plaques, lapel pins, key chains, etc. The common belief in this local office is that these items are produced and marketed by companies completely independant of the Post Office--likely a very good assumption. If some offices have them for sale (as Mr Biggs states) it is apparently, according to my local post office, because the local post master thought he could turn a buck by ordering them and reselling to the public. If my local people can't provide the source for these items (I might like to have a plaque myself) it looks like you guys who checked a post office which happened to have a small supply are the lucky ones.

My post office directed me to go to a different post office,[15 miles away] explaining that they had a 'philatelic store'- some PO's do,some don't. Ihaven't had a chance to try the other PO yet.

The plaque I bought was totally USPS endorsed and created. Not some outside market item. Even had a plastic wrapper and loose-leaf description of the car, it's history (very WRONG history) and the artist that created the artwork for this series of stamps.
Interestingly - the ONLY plaques or cards I've seen from this series are of the 53 Studebaker. Kinda odd, given that the series of stamps also features the T-bird and Corvette! Of course - maybe THOSE plaques were snapped up as soon as they got into the Post Offices. But then, there ought to be lots of Kaiser Darrin plaques gone wanting for a home too.
I'll take a photo of my plaque and put it up for all to see.

Here ya go! Even say's: "Made in the USA" on the back. Measures 10&1/2" X 7"

Had to go to the Post Office today. There was another Stude plaque for sale. Intriguing that there's only plaques of the Stude stamp and not the other 4 csrs.
BTW, they still didn't have the stamps. Gal said they'd be there on the 20th.

Mr Biggs: Thanks a bunch for your 8/13 response on the origin of the plaque (USPO created) and the photo of the '53 Starliner plaque. I made a copy of each and intend to take them to my local office and see what I can jar loose. Mind telling us what the plaque cost? I called two toll free numbers of post offices which supposedly could assist me in running down a source for these plaques. Neither was of any help and the second contact (literally) hung up on me after having made NO comment regarding my question. That's our government for you--VERY helpful. (These offices were regional or existing for specialized functions as opposed to a "conventional post office").[xx(]Makes me wonder why I pay taxes--oh, you say there's a place called what, Leavenworth, and its in where, Kansas? Oh!

Mr. Biggs, thanks for taking that photo for us. Do you really have carpeted walls? Or is that plaque hanging in your 70's Chevy van?
