  • Anyone ever created a 185 OHV 6?

    Was out looking at one of the 57 Champions today. Since the 185 flathead engine had a bit more power than the 170 flathead, it just seemed odd that Studebaker reverted to the 170 in 59, before going to the OHV in 60. Have been toying with giving the 185 the full Cathcart. Read the SASCOSI thread and bingo! Does anyone know of anyone who has built up a 64 OHV six--or at least a 60-63 OHV with the improved 64 non-cracking heads--making it into a 185 OHV?

    Yes someone else on this Forum is trying!

    FYI, the OHV 170 Skybolt Six came out in '61, the 1960's were the last of the venerable old flatheads!

    Actually, they ALL can be non-cracking heads, if you keep the RPM down, keeping Temp down! [:0]

      Right, it was the convertible in 60. I keep losing track of those Lark milestones.
