....because you need the ground clearance for

Mudding
Four Wheeling
Trail Riding
Rock Crawling
(The clearance can save your bacon if your climbing out of a creek, up a hill, or over a slab of granite)

It's also a regular modification for the Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and Jeep crowd.
Because rear end accidents may just end up wedging the owner's vehicle under the rear bumper(I've heard of this occurring a few times, particularly if the pickup had a large hitch).
Because you need sight over the line of cars in front of you.
Because speed bumps are hardly a problem anymore.
Even here they are a chick magnet.
Because the stock tires look horribly undersized with a lift.
Because there's no need to jack the truck up anymore to get to the oil filter or it's pan.

I love this truck. I think the wheels and tires fit the style of the truck perfectly. I am not normally a big fan of the wide bed on Champs, but here it looks really nice. For some it might be too nice to take off road, but for others such a truck would indeed be put to its proper use -- dirt roads, fording creeks, climbing and bouncing where others fear to tread. I'd love to give it a try.

This looks amazing. Does anyone know if that is the original frame/steering linkage? Also, looks like it has been converted to 4wd, any ideas on the components used?

I agree that the lift does make the long bed look less out of place on the Champ front end. Generally I prefer the stepside bed on the Champs.
I'm not sold on those particular rims, but I wasn't consulted so I can't do much about 'em.

Wasn't there a write up on this beautiful Champ in Turning wheels custom and modified section? It would have been in the last 3 or 4 years I believe.
