Yeah, good luck trying to put that huge pile of stuff together and making it fit, and even more, getting 485 HP out of a Champion 6!

Not to mention coughing up the $1600.00! [:0]

Actually, that looks like one of the many universal kits on Ebay. Yeah it will fit a Champion, it will also fit a Mustang, Camaro, Evo, Lancer, you name it. The hitch is you have to assemble it yourself with the supplied parts(which I'm glad he put everything in there that's needed), and the seller assumes that the buyer knows there way around using aftermarket parts and kits on a stock application. That's also why many of these kits may or may not contain instructions as it is usually assumed the buyer knows what they're getting into already. 1600.00 is standard fare for a turbo kit, and I would say it's somewhat reasonable to the kits that can run in the 4000-7000 dollar range. As an example here's one for plopping a similar kit on late model Mustang:

One of the nicer things about going this route is there's no need to go out and piece together a turbo system, everything's supplied. The parts are also all new components, so everything is fresh when it's ready to go. As to the 485 hp number, I think that was meant for a V6 or V8 application, and they just used the potential power that can come from bolting on the kit.

Strange though, I'll have to remember that huge pile of parts crack next time a discussion on Napco kits comes up......

This is the sort of eBay seller who wastes everyone's time and clogs the system. He has a computer program which uses a file containing the make and model of every car ever made and produces an ad for that car for every generic product he stocks, such as "Chrysler Valiant exhaust wrap" The freakin' exhaust wrap is just a generic roll of tape. It has nothing to do with any particular car. However this and too many other sellers clog up the eBay system with these sort of "auctions."

It wastes time having to write an eBay search program to take out these spammers who list a hundred different car covers for Studebakers, another lists a hundred different engine kits and another a hundred different glass kits. This particular seller has 12,000 different listings, but really only a few hundred parts.

The bad thing is it apparently works for them. JDP would never ever have found this guy without this bogus "kit" listed for the Studebaker Champion. Again, there is nothing in the parts specific to the Champion. It is just a pile of generic offshore turbo parts, albiet at a seemingly attractive price.

And the 485hp figure! - throw in a nitrous oxide kit with the turbo and a Champion would show 485hp on a dyno for one split second before it becomes a pile of smoking scrap iron - again, just a cut-and-paste ad from a seller who probably has never seen a Champion.

        thnx, jack vines
