Call me a little crazy, but one day in the far off future, I wouldn't mind getting one of these '65s, giving it a R3 clone engine, but boar it out, change cams, etc. Give it dual superchargers, dual turbos, nitrus, racing tranny, a ford nine inch, some over size slicks and a roll cage. Then paint it a neat shade of green similar to this.[:0][8][][8D][]

Hey Chris, YOU'RE CRAZY! If you were sane, you would put a dual supercharged R3 in a model 'N' Studebaker.

Nice car. Notice the brown interior with that color exterior. A friend who recently passed away had a Bordeaux Red '65 Commander two-door with brown vinyl interior too. Studebaker in Hamilton must have been trying to get rid of their stock of brown upholstery!

That's an excellent plan, but why would you do an engine transplant in a 65 Studebaker? They came with McKinnons you know....
Put in a hot SBC and you can still call it matching numbers.

Being a 65 (which is what i really wanted when i got my 64) Id' put an aluminum block & heads, Roller cam,6 speed trans, and a Mark williams driveshaft & 9 inch rear end, Radial street slicks. 4 link rear suspention. Leave the body as is. Then head out to the midnight drags looking for Cheverolets. I love sleepers.

Rebuild the small block and add a Vortech supercharger kit made for it and smoke the competition (and the rear tires)!

Small color as my first wagonaire, commander, too. V-8, 3spd OD but black interior. Sold it and traded up for exactly the same but a Daytona. Sadly sold it also.

Would be neat to have, but I have enough projects to last me for a few minutes for the moment.[)][]

                      Hi Chris.
You might be able to pick up an R3 type Chevy engine. They look exactly like what Studebaker would have built if they were the manufacturers of the Chev engines for '65.I believe they came out of the mid 70's Monte Carlo. They have the Paxton blower and R3 set up ,all polished and looking great.I don't know how to post a picture of this engine, but can email it to someone if you'd like to see it.
I bought a rebuilt 350 with the R3 for about $2400 a couple of years ago and plan to put it into the 66 Sports Sedan. That makes it an R3 66 ( Sort of....)
