No, its not a package car. If so, it would at least have the power shift trans which would put the shifter on the floor. This one has the heavy duty flight o matic. Still a great car in its own right. A rather high starting bid, but well worth that price if its a solid and sound car.

I'm close enough to look at it, if anyone far away is really interested. The weather is definitely not the same as in those pictures, though!
UPDATE: HERE IS A LINK TO PHOTOS OF THE CAR INCLUDING THE DAMAGED AREA:
I remember it being a very nice, original-looking car. Not to get beat up about this, but why on earth would the guy drill holes in the hood to put a hood ornament on? The '63's never had one and every other thing about the car looks so original and authentic. I know when it's your car you can do whatever you want but, sheesh, now there's a nice hood with two holes in it.

I remember looking at it @ summit also. I too wondered why he didn't steam the engine and do some prep work before he put it up for sale. Wanted 18k for it - wonder how high it will go on EBAY.

Here's a note I got from Bob Palma on this car; pretty interesting stuff:
Bob: Here's a curiosity on that nice, black 1963 R1 Hawk on e-bay; the one in upstate Ohio. All the records, including a direct copy of the ORIGINAL production order in cousin George Krem's possession (he just checked when I asked) indicate the car was built as a 4-speed!
Yep! Everything else is legit for 63V19091, but unless Studebaker made a direct mistake on the Production Order, it was built as a 4-speed.
I've seen minor items wrong on an orignal PO, but never the entire transmission.
So it would be intersting to look the car over real well and see if it was converted to a column automatic...and if not, it is "for sure" a real piece of documented history!
Cheers. Bob

I see it got the opening bid of $6800 (reserve not met) with 7 days left. It will be interesting to see how high it goes. Does the interesting info from BP above mean anything real to the value one way or another? I guess most bidders wouldn't know about it, but if they did, I wonder if it would make any difference...

I also saw that car at Summit and I think that maybe the transmission was changed, when I was looking at the car there was a lot of little things that turned me off about the car, I know at the time he was asking 18k I think that 6k would be a fair price especially if the transmissin has been changed, and all the little things that can nickel and dime you to death.
