I must thank pay pal for making sure I get my money back. On november 25 09 I purchased 2 rear ends from a company with a E-bay store called 65mustang61 but with the real name of Drs Engines located in Indianapolis IN. I was told I would recive my parts by mid december and did not. When I called the problem was blamed on the brake supplyer but the problem would be solved with in a couple of weeks. A few weeks passed and no rear ends caled again n was told all rear ends were built and would be shipping that weekend about 2 weeks later and still nothing so I called and was told that the welder broke and they had to get a new one. So I asked for my money back and the owner told me that would be impossible because of the current presadant and the economy but he would get me the rear ends in a week. So I called Pay Pal and filled a complaint and was told Drs has 10 days to explain them selfs or get me a refund so I asked what if they do not have the money to pay back they said they would pay me and go after Drs to get payed back but it is also importaint to know thjat you only have 45 days to make a complaint.

Thanks, Fred. I've ever only had one dispute and PayPal resolved it. I have had a phishing scam e-mail me: You just made a payment by Paypal and we need to verify your banking information (PayPal doesn't have my banking info, as I only use one credit card and it, too, has fraud insurance). Percentage wise, I'd say the good guys are winning!

FYI for all my fellow SDC members.
Pay Pal will NOT cover you, or resolve a dispute for you if it was not an Ebay transaction. They may fully cover Ebay auctions. However ever since ebay bought payapl they do not cover anything alse fully. They also do not make this very clear when paying through them. They cover non delivery, however if the seller even sends an empty box they are safe (paypal only requires a tracking/delivery #).

The short story is, dont use paypal for NON EBAY stuff. I am now 2 times ripped off, so shame on me. No help either time. Never again. I wont even use them for ebay now.

Just my warning to you all.

That's why I'm a big fan of PayPal. No charge at all if you're buying, and you get their protections anyway. If you're selling, well worth the small charge. Not only do you get the protections, you can easily and instantly pay, or get verified instant payment. I won't buy anything on eBay that doesn't take PayPal anymore, unless it's a rare must-have piece; but the vast majority of sellers these days use it anyway. Only exception os if I'm selling something in the thousands of dollars; then I insist on a PayPal deposit and the balance in cash/MO/certified check.

A great feature for eBayers like myself, and I highly recommend it.

I'm a full time Ebay Power Seller with 25,000+ transactions including 15,000+ in which Paypal was involved. If there's a problem they have a simple rule-the buyer is always right and the seller is always wrong. If the seller has a tracking number that helps their chances if there's a dispute but overall it's great for people who only buy and never sell on Ebay. I've gotten screwed 3 or 4 times over the last 10 years but considering the fact that I've sold things to people in at least 35 countries, and there are no tracking numbers outside the US, I can't complain....

                  Bams,
PayPal does hit us non USA buyers hard on the exchange rate; harder than the bank! That's why I like money order or direct deposit.

I wonder if they charge you Aussies extra...[?] I have always found the exchange for CDN $'s to be very competitive with the rate I can get at a bank.
