56 v-8 number

just got back from fla. the number stamped on the engine block is "P493I6" THE 3 MAY BE AN 8 OR 9.can't really tell. it came out of a 56 broadmore station wagon,2-barrel carb amd auto trans.was told it was a 289.is it a 259 or 289??? no other numbers on engine.body and chassie gone.it was the worst rust job i have ever seen.

The engine number and the 'Broadmoor' name both indicate a 1957 model.

that is why i was checking to see if it was a 289. i do know it was pulled by a bunch of cheevy guys. thanks guys for the info.
