Wouldnt mind seeing more on the 1950 sand car. If I had a 1:18 model of it, I bet I could buitld a replica '50 Sand Car.

Chris, if you seriously want detailed photos of Sand Cars, I might be able to help you out. I'd have to get permission to 'share' the photos though. Just let me know.

Heck ya! Any info would be good. If I can get my hands on one of those '50 Champions in 1:18 scale, Ill try and build a replica.

YAT MING 1/18th scale 1950's are Champion Starlite Coupes. You need to send a photo of a 1950 Commander four door Sand Car and photo's and demensions 0f a 1950 Commander four door to Roberto the Modeler in Brazal. He will duplicate it in 1/14thth scale.

I'm to cheap to go that route! I think a starlight champion sand car would pe a pretty cool repop prototype![8D]

The sand car at the proving grounds appears to have been painted grey. The cars in the ads look like they're a darker color, maybe blue or green. Tough to tell from black and white pics. Does anyone know anything about the desert explorer paint schemes?

Yes, all the Sand Cars were Commanders.

The remains of a '51 sand car rest in the Proving Ground graveyard. Earlier this year, an attempt was made to remove it. It was so rusty that it naturally collapsed on itself upon trying to lift it. So, the rear fenders were saved.

Is that back window a Land cruiser only thing?, wonder if it would fit a business coupe?
