Hmmm. Trivia questions for Studes are so hard to formulate, because there always seem to be exceptions.

For example, what is the "splash" on the side of a 1961 Hawk Fin.

In addition, two toning was achieved with vinyl roofs on 64 GTs.

Note, Paul: 1961 Hawks were excluded, and 1964 Hawks so equipped, and later Daytona Sport Sedans had VINYL-covered roofs.

The question's answer was two-tone PAINT as a regular factory option, which simply wasn't available to Joe Consumer after 1958. Commercial and Fleet, yes...and, of course, the accent on the 1961 Hawk fins. Those two were specifically excluded in the question's wording...and thus provided clues to the answer. BP.

I agree with Nate.....there are lots of us out
here that are still waiting for our copies of TW's
including our Aussie friends and the others around
the world of Studebakerland. In my case, I never
know when the "Butterfield Overland Stage Coach"
will be delivering my copy....probably this next
week. Perhaps Bob, should extend the entry date
for all of us, rather than just accepting the 1st
correct answer, out of the gate.....

Well that is my 2 cents worth....but then you can't
satisfy everybody....any of the time....or something
like that.....

You guys are right, of course. I've tried to figure out how to account for varying delivery times, but can't come up with anything workable. Let's face it, some international members don't get their Turning Wheels for a month or more...what to do? [V]

BTW: Today's (Saturday, January 27) mail has arrived and I am yet to see the February Turning Wheels myself. ('Wouldn't expect it yet, though, to be fair...) BP

I was afraid that this would happen - especially with younger and/or newer members.

All 1961 Hawks came with an off white/ivory color in the panel on the wing. So many have been changed over the years, people think that the various colors are correct. I can remember dealers repainting those areas when the cars were brand new, before initial sale or delivery. This was most often done on white cars. The fin stripe was usually painted to match the interior. Many people have done this when repainting their cars. It usually looks nicer, but it is not correct/authentic.

I also have not received my February TW, so I was, in part, guessing the question to which the answer was two-tone paint.

When I asked this question last months for Jauary's issue, I was suprised to read that it took a whole month for some to get it. Average time was shortly after Christmas, but some received it earlier and some received it around mid-January.

Hope I get mine soon.
