  • 1955 Convertible in a 1958 movie

Anyone ever see this picture before of a 1955 Studebaker convertible? Its from a 1958 movie named 'Premier Mai'. I found this on the Internet Movie Cars Database http://www.imcdb.org/search.php?l=fr&page=1035 They have many more Studebakers referenced there.

Did it hit that little 2CV?

Now that's interesting. Looks like a European setting. Maybe France?

The good news is that Jon Gosselin (of Jon & Kate Plus 8 fame) was last seen standing in front of that Citroen when the Studebaker hit. [:0]

It really looks like the Stude didn't suffer any damage, just a good camera angle. Hopefully, anyway.

Note the missing horizontal upper & lower windshield mouldings. Nice looking car but a few touches needed.

What I find most interesting is that the car is Chauffer driven. I never thought of a '55 stude as a limo. Maybe chopping off the top somehow provides more legroom.

Its two-toned like a Bugatti Royale, therefor it must be chauffer driven. Besides, would you rather have an elderly lady drive the car on public roads?

                        Hi

Definitely looks to be France, those are Simcas on the street.

The convertible appears to have a real folding top under the boot.

I wonder if it was converted by one of the French coachbuilder still in business at the time.

Couldn't they afford better crash padding than Jon Gosselin? That's not even up to CASO standards.

I'm also surprised no one has mentioned that serious looking antenna sprouting from the decklid. Maybe the car is actually radio controlled, and Jeeves is just there for aesthetics? LH

Where are the over the windshield lock down gizmos? Maybe you drive with one hand and hold the top down with the other
