Forgive me if what I have done is unkosher...

Some of you have been keeping up with the Four door 1964 Studebaker daytona in Omaha Nebraska. There are two threads on this subject (one by me) but neither of them have anything to do with a Studebaker getting junked in the title, and I would like to link these two threads together just for the ease of typing, and to get word out to anyone in that area who might have a chance to get some goodies off of the thing before it gets scrapped, and those who would like to keep up with it...if I do anymore posting about it after today...

These are the links to the threads:

    In general discussion:

    In Tech Talk:

    and a brief summary:

A solid 64 daytona is in a junkyard in omaha: since it has been found, the heads, distributor, exhaust and intake manifolds, carb, alternator, master cylinder, fuel pump and decklid have been pulled.

I have the decklid, master cylinder and other various interior parts that were salvageable.

The rear bumper and the other body panels other than the front fenders are rust free and straight. all of the glass is good.

Front bumper and grill are gone.

Power steering setup still there. (unless Studebaker member Mike Fleek has already pirated it, ran into him while tearing off what I wanted. Nice guy!)

Funny thing while I was buying my parts from the yard today: the guy behind the desk asked me what this master cylinder was from and I said "that Studebaker out there"

    He replied:

"wow, that car is getting torn apart these last two days!"

I responded "well, word gets out!"

      Never fails

I live just down the road in Lincoln and I need some 64 front end sheet metal for my ugly truck project but due to job scheduling, family scheduling and other stuff I could not get to that yard up in Omaha until after Thanksgiving, if then

Did it still have the upper and side air deflectors plus two support rods from behind the grille?

      or the hood release...

      or the front marker lights...

      or...

Well, the guy there said that the car should be there for a few more weeks. I am going to try to get out there after my next payday to try to pick up the rear axle/gearbox if I can. That will be after thanksgiving, so I hope it is still there by then as well. As far as the parts you asked about; The hood release I don't remember seeing, I was not looking for it, but I do not remember it being there. The inner handle was there. The post and the safety catch on the hood were still there.

All of the marker/tail light lenses and housings are gone. They were gone before I got there.

As far as the air deflectors and support rods, I cannot say I remember seeing them either..but then again, I was not looking for them, so I do not remember if they were there or not. I will try to get out there on one of my lunch breaks for info purposes this week if you would like.

Other things I remember that were missing were the steering wheel, interior door handles and window cranks, turn signal rod, shift indicator, radio, ignition switch, and that is all I can remember right off, other than the stuff I already mentioned that have been pulled.

Wow! No wonder that Junkyard employee, owner or whatever was surprised at all of the Studebaker parts being sold! $$$$$$$ [:0]

They stripped it nearly bare didn't they? [:0]
