La Dawri stuff was too cool (still is, I guess).

There was a Studebaker powered Fiberglass Sports Car/Kit Car popular around the same time.

I can't remember the model name -Victriss maybe?

Alan can provide more info -I think he still owns one.

Victress was bought out by La Dawri. Here is one that has Studebaker across the front of the car. There was one of these bodies with Hemi power that competed at Bonneville back in the sixties.

Wow! Talk about a shock. I have known Dave Simon for 35+ years-great guy. He used to talk about the Packard race car he built. I had no idea that this was the one. I'm sure he would be pleased to see this article. Tragically he is in late stage Parkinson's and may not be able to read it. I will email his son, Kirk, to see if he can print it and get it to his dad.
A couple years ago Kirk sold the VERY late '64 Avanti that Dave bought new at American Service Center in Arlington, VA. Dave had painstakingly restored the car just before he got the Parkinson's. Interestingly the buyer was Sam Studebaker, then of the Philadelphia Eagles, now Kansas City Chiefs.
Dave told me that he liked the Packard engine for racing, but that its Achilles Heel was a weak lower end.
Thanks for posting this. I will circulate this in the Potomac Chapter as many knew Dave.

Gee Paul, it is a small world. I am glad to know that this thread may get back to to the guy who built this very interesting automobile.
