  • Is there a market for Chevy S-10 T-5s?

    Hi all,

Got a question. Is there a market for Chevy S-10 T-5's, in good shape? We got one here, that has been inspected, and resealed by my dad, who is a tranny guy.

    Thanks!

    Dylan,

What year S-10 truck did it come out of? Also what size engine was it bolted to? Is it a 2wd or 4wd trans?

Like all used parts yes and no. For a swap it less desirable then a Camero or Mustang box because it is a non-worldclass meaning it has bushings rather than the worldclass bearings. If somebody NEEDS it for their transportation then it is probably priceless, but if that somebody doesn't NEED it; its not worthless, it just may lie around a while. $125-$200 is fair to yourself and the buyer. To the RIGHT buyer somebody NEEDING it, $250 is about top buck.

Its a 1986 and below T-5, with the mechanical speedometer. Thanks for the help!

Oh, and the person he got it for builds flat head ford V8's. I guess in the flathead world, they like these better as the shifter is farther forward than the world class ones. I thought that was interesting, lol.

They're OK for low powered vehicles, like a flathead Ford. I wouldn't stick on behind a modern V8 or anything with power.
