Chris, What you saw at the end of Franklin St. WAS the sight of Plant 8. It was located at the corner of West Eckman and Franklin. Sibleys Foundry ajoins the property to the east. The Plant 8 building was torn down several years ago to put up a recycling facility. There was still a small portion of building left in the south west corner when I was back there early this year. It's visible if you go in from the Chippewa Plant. AM General used the Plant 8 building to build Mail Jeeps for the US Postal Service.

I dont see why not. The foundry/business owner (Don) said to just stop in and ask for a tour, usually any time. Don is a Studebaker guy, so he would be understanding, even more when an SDC meet is going on!

FPS (Forum Postal Service) stinks! At least the stamps are cheap... I'll mail ya directly... LH

... And I'm having problems accessing my Yayhoo email account, too.[xx(] It says: "Oops! Looks like our servers are taking a break. Please try again later." Slacking servers.
How lame is that? Stay tuned...

Someone needs to set up an "Official Foundry Tour" during the spring swap. A few years ago Palma led a few of us over there, but an "organized tour" sounds like a great time!

Ok. Tonight I have good news and bad news. The good new is that the foundry tour/exploration is still on. The bad news is that my boss, dan, who is in charge of getting ahold of the owner for an exact date is a little out of service right now... Kidney stone.[xx(] On a positive note, he was back in to work today and seems to be doing better. So he will still call the foundry asap!
