Squeezed within another topic Chris asked an interesting question about who has a totally stock, original vehicle. I can't remember this being covered, so thought I would start a thread on it.

Chris, my '50 Champion was purchased by my mother and dad in late 1949. It has been 'with' me ever since I was born in 1950. There has been absolutely no modification of any kind on it, ever. All the repairs through the '60s, and all of my restoration repairs all used original Studebaker parts. The only non-original items on it are the tires which are up-to-date tires. I drive the car around town and when the OD gets fixed it will go on the highway, so I took no shortcut on the tires.

I have a completely stock 55 Champion 2dr. sedan.all origional except for a re-cored radiator,brakes,exhaust and tires.

Here's one that's all original.

George K.'s '38 Commander State. He thinks the fenders were repainted sometime in the past. And it had a Clover Leaf replacement engine installed somewhere along the line as well. Other than that, it's just as it left South Bend in 1938.

And here's a historical question for Chris D.....

This car has oil change decals from a service station in Bellmore, New York. What prominent SDC Member resided there?

Only thing missing is the radio. But George has it sitting in the corner of the shop, waiting to be rebuilt.

My '55 Hardtop is all original stock... My Dad bought it in 1955. There have never been any modifications... none.... zero.

Cool, knew that at least a few were still out there! Yeah, gaskets and stuff like that really dosent count as long as it's genuine Studebaker replacement parts. Very cool. I was starting to think that maybe a bone stock Stude wasnt around South Bend anymore, neighbors E45 is probably the closest in the restored catagory. Also has a regular transtar, really nice truck. Last time I was over they were putting some finishing touches on re-restoring it. It is rather modified to pull a loaded trailer... (cam, carb, ect.) Really nice resto. Then comes the lark across the street from him... Big 289 in it with all origional supercharger and other mods. For being a hot rod, it still really resembeles being stock, but ONLY factory produced STUDEBAKER perfomance parts. Love to ride in it! That car is awesome. (and james, I dont mean the pink one...)[] Well, glad to see those stock examples still on the road, thats how I plan on restoring one when I get one! (unless the papers say it came with a Paxton supercharger) A Chevy big block may look cool, to some, and go fast, but its just... -Incorrect to the car if it's a Studebaker. Thats my opinion. Keep 'em stock! Thats what always gets my vote for "best of show!"

You saw my 59 Lark Regal 2 dr hardtop when you picked up the grille and moldings a few weeks ago.
The Lark was ordered for my grandparents by my dad who went to work for Studebaker after being discharged from the Army afer a stint in Korea. It was driven by my grandma and the longest distance it was ever driven was to my aunts cottage in Dowagic Michigan from Mishawaka. It sat from 1976 until 1992 when I aquired it. It almost ended up being a Prostreet car that was was going to be powered by a 1969 375hp 396, but a older guy I know that was president of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane club talked me out of it. I then didn't have the heart to alter it. It did get a frame on resto. The motor was disassemdled and the heads were done due to stuck valves. The only mods were the aluminum rims, new dual exhaust and a Holley 500 two barrel carb. Oh a Pioneer 6 disc CD changer and Clarion Pro Audio speakers were also added. The Lark has been in the family for 5 years now and the odometer is still under 33,000 original. I will remain a member of our family as long as possible.

My 51 is nearly all original. It's had a partial repaint at some point. Other than that it is how it left the factory

Yeah, that is one nice car. Glad you left it mostly stock and just restored it! By the way, that grille worked for the job!
