Looks like non-stock though very usable seats. Over all the condition looks good. The[u]price excellent</u>!

My first vehicle was a 48 2wd wagon in high school. My dad had a 232 3spd o.d.swapped into it and he gave it to me when I started driving. I pulled the 232 and dropped in a 259 4 bbl. It had a 53 ford rearend with 4:10 gears. That thing would run pretty good.The brakes were a litle scary and it understeered pretty bad but I sure had a lot of fun with it.

It requires an adapter, the wagon/truck used a T90 with a long input shaft. I have one with a car bell housing somewhere in a barn.

When I was a kid living in Midland, Texas, that was the family car. That is the only time I remember being hot,riding in that thing. It was like an oven, even rolling down the road. Of course the fact that there were 5 of us kids riding in the back seat did not help. Went to the air show in Big Springs in 1954, and the engine gave out on the way back. Good times.

Dick, I am sure that a T90 would handle a Stude V8 for any kind of normal driving. They used T90s in Studebaker pickups with V8 power, IIRC. IN any case, the T90 gears are the same size as T86 gears, and they certainly used T86 with V8 power.

I may have the bellhousing you need to accomplish the swap.

The only problem with a T-90 in the Willys was that it had an issue with the syncro in second gear. When driving it would just pop out. I had an old Jeep with a Ford 289 and the T-90 adapted to it and had no problem with it holding together, just the syncro started to go out. I also had a Willys pickup I built with a Chevy 305 and the T-90 that the trans held up well in.

Many years ago I had a really nice 2WD example of one of these. Seems as tho I recall it having some sort of transplant engine in it that didn't run. Before I ever got around to doing something with it, one of the guys I worked with talked me out of it.
I like the looks of these. And it's also intriguing that my mom worked in the Willys factory during WWII.[^]

Hmm... Looks to be a lotta work, but a lotta fun to be had when finished. I usually shy away from anything that is not stock, but I like this one for some (not so) odd reason. So, feel free to give me the "Willys" (Sorry. That was really stupid, but I couldn't resist). LH

The swap is supposedly already done and the Willys runs and drives...so it must have the proper bell and adapter. We'll see.

This would be a sterling opportunity to 'over-restore.' The finish on these was nothing great to start with. That plywood door panel is already an improvement.
