The bogus mileage claim makes me wonder what else he is mistaken about on the car.

I would think 30 miles per gallon would be VERY optimistic for that car driven in any normal manner. The listing does not even mention overdrive. BTW I am not saying that the seller is lying, I just think he is mistaken.

Gotcha [:I]
I was totally thinking Odometer Mileage, which could very well be true judging by the pics and the much needed Lark Shine.
I'd agree, the MPG claim is optimistic.
Maybe he's always driving downhill

I think it could very well be a "diamond in the rough" John and Tracy.
It just has that CA (it appears to have blue plates) patina that you see frequently on low mileage few owner CA cars.
I'll cross my fingers for ya

There are two rules of thumb that must be kept in mind as to getting premium mileage from a Studebaker equipped with an OverDrive. First and foremost: it's very important to keep your speed [u]at or under </u> fifty-five. Over the double nickel will adversely affect mileage. Secondly; steady speed. So freeway driving is probably the only place where the O.D. is going to be an advantage. I would also add that keeping one's foot out of things would help as well. Studebaker advertised a possible 28-30 MPG for their cars (that might be where he got it), however twenty-eight miles per gallon is not impossible with these cars. I seriously doubt those of you who regularly travel with your cars at seventy-plus will ever get more than fifteen MPG.
