Or somebody whacks you and you wanna document it for insurance purposes![xx(] [8]

Whatever hallowed berth you afford this gem, those plates will make nice wall decor.

        Miscreant adrift in
        the BerStuda Triangle

        1957 Transtar 1/2ton
        1960 Larkvertible V8
        1958 Provincial wagon
        1953 Commander coupe

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

I don't consider myself a daredevil, but I do run these '47 plates on my M15 even though it is registered with Historical Vehicle plates...

I carry the "real" plates with me.

I don't think the cops are out to get us. I believe that if I got stopped I certainly MAY get a ticket (and probably deserve one), but I doubt if I actually would (could be wrong, of course ).

Believe it or not, I have exceeded the speed limit on occasion, I think I've driven with a lamp or two burned out, and I remember rolling through a stop sign on a right turn once...maybe I am a daredevil [:0]

I came across some information couple weeks ago, next year Indiana will allow vehicles registered as "historical vehicles" to use year of manufacture plates as the actual license plate.

                    4E2

In Montana you can legally register your vintage plate if they are the same year is your vehicle. I have 1965 and 1970 plates but haven't found 1961 yet.

Here in Ontario you can register your car on "Year of Manufacture" plates (shows "YOM" on the paperwork). When I moved back to Ontario in 2002, I found my parent's license plates from 1967 in their garage, so put them on my 1967 Olds 98 convertible (I think they'd saved them since that was Canada's centenial year). You had to jump through a few hoops, like sending the actual plates and original ownership to the government for approval, but a few years ago when I did it it was a free service - I think they charge $200 for the priviledge now.

But the point of my story, I still got pulled over by a cop, who asked where my plates were. I figured somebody must have stolen the '67 plates, but they were still on the car. I had to explain the YOM program to him.

As a side note, in 1967 my folks owned a station wagon (didn't everybody?) and in Ontario, all station wagons got plates with the letter "X" on them. I've had one person in about four years point out to me at a show that technically, those plates aren't correct for a convertible.
