  • day 3 at Ceder Rapids

Knocking (by phone) on Johns door at odawn 30. No time to waste, off to get some breaky and brew. Then down to the meet, M was glassy eyed
John up syked and i was contending with two backseat drivers.

A quick tour of the parking lot and a pickup of the seat box for midge that Mr Maxie was so kind to transport to the meet for me. $80.00 later we got to the valve cover race practice area which was Johns big interest of the day.

Interspersed with our wanderings was quick trips to the parking lot, as more and more cars were appearing. Which i will put in photo bucket as soon as i get to a high speed connection. Of course mane of you have seen them before but this kid in a candy store had not.
So it was click away and fall in love over and over as one sweet ride after another appeared.

A quick trip to Duffys car collection/sales lot. And off to Mt. Vernon for one more lunch at Tatanas. And it was back for the valve cover finals. One more tour around the sellers and i scoured a grill for Midge. Then it was off to the truck farmers dinner.

What a great group of folks, and how nice it was to meet them and to put a face to a forum handle. I had some angst about identifying myself before such a large crowd but no tar and feathers appeared. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

A huge crowd attended the auction but we could only stay for a short while. But things were rolling along and selling quickly. Of course i'll always think i should have bid more for that NOS hood. But i don't think it would have been easy getting it home in a mini van. M wouldn't agree to do the roof thing so i quit bidding. Yesh i would have wrapped her in a blanket, where's the love.

Glendale, huh? Hmmmm...Hamilton Chapter should turn out en masse and scout out our NHL team. Sorry...couldn't resist that!

More seriously, May is the best time for me vacationwise (I work at a university and May's the quietest month). I'm gonna mull over the idea of attending my first International. Sans Lark though, of course.
