I joined the club too late in my Stude life to have benefited from the SASCO inventory. My many e-mails to SASCO went unanswered, and that killed my enthusiasm for them. Too bad. Somebody will grab that inventory IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT, and we may all yet benefit when they get it properly inventoried and answer their inquiries. 'nuff said.

It appears that Dennis will send his notice to those on his EMAIL LIST. The liquidation notice will probably be by group i.e.Interior door panels, all types, approximately 300 pieces $1200.00. 1964 Bumpers, front & rears, all types approximately 235 pieces, $1500.00. Just a thought. Remember Dennis stated no pick and choose sales.

I couldn't open mine either. Actually I thought it was something from somebody else since the subject line only had "w" in it. I replied that I couldn't open it and just go a return email and the attachment now opens.
I was suprised because I thought an offer had been made by two folks were were going to split it up...oh well.

Any idea why SASCO finally gave up?

I ordered all new mouldings for the Cruiser yesterday! My bodyman's gonna be happy - the new front panel got here yesterday! My 4 NOS door panels are in route. Anybody got a pair of freshly chromed bumpers I could buy???[]

I'm pretty new to the Studebaker scene, and I may be blatantly naive, but from what I have read, SASCO is a very important and unique source of NOS parts to all of us, and any future Studebaker owners. Surely there is something that can be done to keep this source open to all of us. Maybe we should form some type of think tank, to explore all possible avenues with Dennis. Finding a new location, finding someone to move and run the business for Dennis, etc. Would Dennis want to continue with the business if a solution could be found, or does he want out of it completely? My job for the last 25 years, has been to solve problems, and one thing I've learned, is that there is always a solution, it just has to be found.
I would be willing to talk with anyone that is interested in trying to come up with a viable solution, but I first need to know what the problem is. Does Dennis want out of the business? Is he unable to find a new location? Is he unable to afford a move to a new location? What is the main roadblock to keeping SASCO a viable business as is?

jeryst, please use the search function. There are several threads with literally dozens of posts on this very subject, completely explained and detailed by those in the know. It's too much to re-write several times!
I like the think tank idea- that's exactly what all the other threads have been already. The problem is, it only includes Forum users. I'd love to come up with an idea myself, and I'm thinking... but time is running out.
Read up on the situation and see if you have any solutions...

Okay, I've read some of the posts. so the way I see it, there are only a couple of options.
1. Find a was to continue as is.
2. Find a buyer for the entire inventory.
3. Generate enough cash to relocate the entire business without putting any work on Dennis.
4. "Institutionalize" the whole business for the benefit of the Studebaker culture.
I really feel that the first and foremost thing we need, is publicity, as it could generate enough interest to make any one of the above options possible. There are thousand of Club members and Studebaker owners all over the world, yet the only information I get about this whole thing, is a couple of forum threads. Surely, someone knows, or is related to a journalist, reporter, news anchor, etc. that is willing to do an article on the situation. There are millions of other classic car owners all around the world that would feel sympathetic to the cause, as well as an entire older generation of people that probably dont even know that a unique business like this still exists. All it takes is one good story to get the major networks to pick up and run with it on a national level. The result would be support, donations, pressure on the city, etc., all things that are needed to help find a solution, and/or extend the time frame. Even small publicity would help tremendously. Once we agree on format and content, we could make up signs and take them to car shows to display, detailing the Studebaker story, and the plight of Sasco. I mean, does anyone really realize how unique this is? How many other original NOS classic car warehouses are still in existence? I've owned many makes of cars, over the last 30 years, and believe me, nothing like this exists for any of them. Ill-fitting reproduction parts are the rule, with the occasional NOS part becoming available at an outrageous cost. This is a unique situation, and deserves to be preserved, but without publicity in order to get the rest of the world involved, Sasco will just slip away into oblivion as us forum members shake our heads, and mumble to ourselves about what a shame it is. So how about it? Anyone related or know someone who can do a story on Sasco and get it on the air?

If no one knows him, I'll take it on.
