  • Heater core

Just for general interest: I have a vintage Lincoln that the heater has a leak in it. The task of replacing it is not viable, it involves removing the the entire dash and steering. I decided to remove the two heater hoses from the core and redirect then into each other with some plumbing components. There is no heat in the car any more but the car is drivable. I looked into a 12 volt heater that plugs into the cigar lighter, it works well, it only delivers 150 w but on continuous it is very comfortable, better than scrapping it. It cost $23 Canadian.

    Interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Earlier this year I pulled the Climitizer from my 3E40 truck to make it easier to rewire. In rehabbing its cabinet, I took the core out and without testing it, I’m pretty sure it has been leaking. Plus the valve input is severely bent. I thought about having it recored, but an electric ‘core’ sounds promising. I might need a bigger alternator, however.
