I bought one off eBay last year for $100. Dan told me be was asking $400 each, and did sell both Saturday. No idea what he ended up taking for them. It's interesting that they said "$2.50" on them, which is the price they were originally selling for way-back-when.
I wonder if this is one of those?

Bam , I think he'd dropped his price to $300 on saturday . I wanted to buy the small print off him but he said that one went with the last big one he sold .

Does anyone know of any other billboard art that's survived? We've seen a number of these '64 editions. Surely there must've been other years or other signs.

There's a firm in Oregon that sells old billboards, they were profiled last year in Hemmings, IIRC they wanted $2000+ for most of their car ads with pictures of cars on them. And were asking $2200 for a neat 53 Studebaker coupe billboard.
Seemed a bit too expensive for me ...especially if they got them for next to nothing.
What's better, sell a couple at a high price or sell a bunch at a couple hundred each? I guess that's why I'm not a businessman.

While Leonard's display is impressive and the sign is better than GREAT, my choice would be to save the whole thing, complete with all the lettering. The problem is the 40 feet is not too hard to deal with, but the 20 feet TALL is!
It would take a huge Shop, pole building etc. to install it in, mine is only 14 ft. at the low end of the peak of the barn style roof.

Even better, do what some of the guy my age use to do with, um, an attractive poster. Tape it on the ceiling over the bed.... [}]

Jboyle,
Was there a web address with the article for the '53 billboard you mentioned above?
