  • Need Help Finding O'Briens #5003 Turquoise High Intensity Engine Enamel

For those that have seen my other threads, Neil Wollam is rebuilding the engine of my '55 Conestoga for me and I’d like to paint of few of the parts back to a “non-worn” look. Neil says it's the O'Briens # 5003 Turquoise High Intensity Engine Enamel. I cannot find that anywhere so far. And the paint shops I've reached out to cannot make custom colored high temp paint.

Please advise where this paint may be available, or what alternatives are out there. I see online I can get POR engine enamel in Chrysler Turquoise or Chrysler Blue. There’s also a Dupli-Color in “Torque-n-Teal”.

Here's the 3 variants of colors on the engine as it sits.

Thanks Ed. They were closed, so email was sent.

Hirsch sadly didn’t have the paint. They offered the same colors as the POR ones I noted in the original post.

IMO, car engines don't need "high temp" paint. I've painted several using single stage Urethane without any issues.

    Just something to consider.

Good to know. But the color is still wanted, either way.

Unless someone else has a suggestion I’ll likely just go with the Chrysler Turquoise. I’m hoping that’ll look closer to the cars custom color than the others.

You might also look into the factory turquoise used on '57 Packard motors. I purchase mine from Studebaker Parts com

The Correct '56-'57 Studebaker Turquoise Green "Engine Enamel" 800256 is available at Studebaker vendors, no need to guess.

The faded Original Color is on the Vibration Damper and Pulley of the Engine in Post # 1.

If Neil Wollam suggested using that paint, doesn't he know where to source it?

O'Brien Paint is now Fuller-O'Brien and appears to be owned by an English company. O'Brien started in South Bend by the way.

I know the block you are using is a '56 and turquoise is correct for that. But the wagon is a '55 and most of them used a dark blue paint.
