  • Took the Daytona to a show

We took our Daytona out yesterday to a small show locally and it was really nice to see how people reacted to the car. It’s driving really nice and can maintain highway speeds very well looking forward to getting past the better half treatment and getting two more shows this year the only thing I’m really not happy with my battery hold down arrangement could not find a good tiedown strap.

Looking good! We had a few inches of snow, topped with rain yesterday, so it’ll be a couple months before I get my car outside!

True but on the flipside when you’re out enjoying yours, I’ll have mine protected away in the garage because it’s too darn hot to go anywhere with it.

It was kind of funny the area I live in most are of a certain age. Everyone recognized the car as a Studebaker, but very few of them remembered the Daytona. We were out for a cruise with it earlier in the week and as we were passing an older guy on a scooter, he yelled Stude!!! When I looked in the rearview mirror, he was waving and happy had a big smile on his face. I’m glad I didn’t sell it right away after doing all that work because now I’m finding the car to be quite enjoyable

I'm sure it's a more usable and enjoyable car with the Chevy V8. Glad it's all sorted out and on the road.

Soon I'm going to be listing a '62 Lark four door on BAT for a friend. It has the Crackhead Six with automatic.. Driving it around a bit the last couple of days has been a wonderful reminder of just how much more fun a Lark is with a V8 under the hood.

Thanks, Matt that’s for sure. Mine has a mild RV cam in it., it’s very lively and gets up to 45 very quickly I had it out on the freeway for 20 miles. It’s not even breaking a sweat at 70

you are absolutely right about the six.

Years ago some Midway members took a Daytona and a Challenger to a Mopar show and proceeded to confuse the hell out of the judges and showgoers.

That’s hilarious. I would’ve loved to have seen their faces. I am quite sure a lot of the young ones were feeling Like the space time, continuum exploded especially if any had the six.

I can't recall what was under their hoods, but I remember some Mopar guys who were astounded when I told them Mopar stole their car names from Studebaker. The only thing that would have made it better was if Studebaker had offered a Charger.

                      Thanks Rich,

I didn't think they were still available. I'll be getting one asap. I was thinking about Bob when I was putting this one on. Had a little hiccup this week with the car, the aluminum radiator comes with a plastic drain plug and of course its dripping. have a brass one on order with a petcock. Anyone who has the aluminum radiator, double check your drain plugs.
