  • High beam switch location 1961 Lark

Inquiring we’re the switch for the high beam on 1961 Lark as checked and no switch on floor

    LHD or RHD ?
We know LHD were on the Left of the Floor, it may have been moved.
Follow the Red wire from the Headlight Switch and/or the wire from the High Beam Indicator Red Light in the Speedometer to the switch.

Or, follow the Red and Red and White wires from the Headlights to the switch.

First thing is order a switch from Rock Auto or a Studebaker vendor. It might be cheaper to go to a parts store, if you can find one that still has them available. Then look for the hole in the floor near the kick panel on the left side (if it is a LHC) It maybe on the opposite side if it is a RHC. The difficult part is finding the wires. Three wires go to the switch--two red ones and a black one. The black one goes on the center terminal of the switch -it feeds power to it form the light switch so turn on the light switch and check for current. The red ones go to the lights. Once you have found them you need to make the appropriate connections and you should have a dimmer switch. Not expensive but trying to sort out jerry -rigged wiring can be awful!

Or maybe it was just wired for low beam only.
