  • V-8 Timing Gear

The fiber cam gear 1554448 for my 259 is back ordered from several vendors. Anyone have a new one they want to part with for $ ? Thanks for your consideration.

If there's another NOS (not repro) fiber V-8 cam gear to be had, I'd be interested in one.

Very easy for those who do not know how to tell the difference, a NOS Cam Gear has 4 spokes, and is marked by the Mfg. "Celoron" so is Not solid, like all Aftermarket in the Day, and Reproductions Today are.

What is best for 63 Avantis and R series Larks? The fiber gear or the aluminum gear?

Aluminum was stock on all R engines.

There was a discussion a few years ago concerning repro aluminum camshaft gears. Apparently there were 4 batches produced and it was a crap shoot if one obtained a good one. I don't think there was a way for the end user to determine one to be in spec. Only after installation could and should the mesh be checked. I currently have an aluminum one that I purchased from a Stude vender years ago for future use but I'd be hesitant to use it!

I just go to the string and post I want to copy, highlight it's address in the address window, hit the "C" Copy then open another Tab and go to the Post to add to and hit the "V" Paste.

I don't think the chain link works, like the Camera Icon that has never worked.
No loss since there are other ways to do most everything.

Thanks Rich, for explaining the procedure that works. Hopefully it will work for me in this attempt. Not knowing which things work and don't on this platform make me assume that I'm doing something incorrectly! Additionally, what works for one forum member doesn't necessary work for all!

This is the link to the discussion about the repro. aluminum camshaft gears a few years ago.
