  • Radio Roys Inventory

Does anyone know what happened to Roy's inventory? I do believe that he was the only one specializing in radio repair that is on this forum. If someone took over, I would like to contact them. Thanks.

Not the ONLY one, but one of a few, my Long Time Friend from Calif., "Bud" (Harry Alenik) in Kingman, AZ also does Repair, I think not necessarily "Restoration" though.

Radio Roy did AM FM conversions to the original radios and I did restorations. I sent Roy customers that wanted AM FM conversions and he sent me people that wanted their radios rebuilt to stock condition. As far as Roy's stock of parts and test equipment, I don't know. It's possible Roy's family hasn't done anything with Roy's inventory or they sold everything without having any sort of sale or auction. Bud

I had several, "Do you remember when..." conversations with Roy concerning Minneapolis. I lived there between 1975-1980. He truly was a "One of a Kind" guy who freely gave advice, was very knowledgeable about what he was talking about, and wasn't bothered by novice questions. I learned from him, valued his expertise, and I miss him as a valuable asset to this forum.

Back in the day Dan Schultz of Antique Radio in Palm Harbor, Florida did conversions to FM from standard Studebaker AM radios. He did mine and I have to say (not his fault) the quality leaves lots to be desired, he also fixed a true AM/FM Studebaker radio for me...........I later removed it from the car as the music quality was well S-T.

Thanks for the responses. I was not aware there was another "guru" on the forum. I will PM Bud.

Roy's parts and other items are being sold for the family. The Sequoia Chapter has had two estate sales so far with another this month.

I was supprised when I was at one of those sales I saw very little in the way of radio stuff. In fact, the only radio I saw was the one in the complete dash board I bought but it is really rusty. I've got some rusty gauges and switches too if anyone needs them.

Rick, I picked up a couple of the radios the last time. The first time I went, he had a lot of radios, but they were stored outside under a carport. Most were gone, as well as a lot of test equipment when I went back. There will be one more sale later this month and I spoke to Bob who told me he's getting the house ready for sale.
