Tom M. did indeed own the truck outright, but sold it last fall to a young guy, I think out of Michigan.
The "young guy, I think out of Michigan" is one of the owners.
He picked it up on behalf of the other two owners... [^]

I don't get all the cloak-and-dagger; the "young guy" is Kent Fedor.

We've had this conversation before-- [:0] [B)] If folks want it to be known-
I'll let them post about it. It's not up to me to 'out' them.
Also~ just as I did in the past~ I will not be mentioning who the third owner is- and nor should anyone else!!! Just because you know doesn't mean they want everyone else to know...

        Thanks for sharing, though. [V]

            Bob (Bams50),
I authored the about statement referring to a young guy from Michigan. I did not (do not) intend "clock and dagger" stuff. I simply did not know what the guy's name was at the time of the post and wouldn't have recognized it if told anyway. Why so touchy, I don't understand?

The pot shot was aimed at me- and I've already replied above.

              As a reminder~
Not everybody wants their business aired on a public fourm like that. Just because you know something doesn't mean you should say it here...

LET THEM SAY IT, if they want it said!!!

Quick question on a related topic...when I was a kid in the midwest in the 60s, it seemed trucks not only had the weights painted on them, but most farm PUs (this was before city folks bought them in any numbers) had their name & town painted on them. Like:

                "John E. Doe
                Belton, Mo."

Was that done because of state law (a farm use tax break?), or just "the thing" to do back then? I saw them in Missouri and Wisconsin, probably Iowa too.
                Any ideas?

Dugans bakery in the metro NYC area utilized them in the 50's and 60's.

John - in BC it was the law a few years ago that all trucks with a GVW of over 5500 kg (~ 12000 lbs) had to have the registered owners name and GVW displayed on each side of the vehicle. I am unsure if it is still required today, but I know the GVW must still be displayed for trucks licensed over 4600 kg (10000 lbs.) GVW.
