  • On Studebaker prices. How much should you deduct to put a "restored car" to correct all the work

Rather than add to the tread on the 60 Lark Convertible here is a new thread.

There was two cars advertised in Turning Wheels some years ago. One was a 62 Lark 4 door and a 60 Lark Convertible. More on the 4 door later. The Convertible was advertised as restored. Pictures showed a completely ugly non stock brown color and a matching ugly seat correct seat covers. He was asking 10K. This was ten years ago.

I had bought the Lark as I knew the car from Arizona. I made a deal and did a bank transfer. When I tried to contact him, I could not reach him. I then saw the car advertised again. I then reached out to the police and then went to his house. Ten minutes later he called me and arrangements were complete to transport the car.

So knowing all that, aside the fact the seller was questionable, how much would you deduct from the asking price to get the car in correct vs "restored? After a hands on look at the keeping that in would you try to negotiate or just walk away?

    Hi Bob,

Knowing what I know now about my Daytona situation, I'd not only walk; I'd run away fast. I'd take it as a bad omen of the future hidden issues; if they are deceptive in selling, there is a good chance of many future headaches.

Wait a Minute, if you bought this Lark 10 Years ago, I think nothing matters, it's done.
