  • The lifter woke up!

Was working on the Stude today, it’s had a loud lifter tick that hasn’t gotten any worse or better, but had good oil pressure so I’ve been running it as is since I plan on 289 swapping it late this year. Well, lo and behold, it started to die as I was adjusting the carburetor and I revved it pretty hard to stop it from dying, she backfired, and that lifter quieted down! Seems to come and go a bit but I think it’s starting to break itself loose! She holds 40psi oil pressure at idle warm, if it’s still running this nice come fall I don’t know if I’ll be able to bear pulling it out 😂

Also, possibly a stuck valve freeing up.

Possible but I took a video of it running with the valve covers off and everything was moving and compression was even, so if anything it could have just been a sticky valve. But if had been jammed completely it would have wiped the cam since the lifters are solid.

ID:	2024123Use this in gas in double the recommended amount....use 8 oz. in 10 gallons of fuel. I'm not a fan of diluting oil...but if you have a problem, use some in oil too...then change the oil.

Sounds nice....and easy to just drive her without a swap....if you wish.

I would go for keeping that engine & start look for some speed equipment & a higher ratio rear axel, that would be sweet & less expensive than anything else, I think hot L-head 6's are cool...
