Your efforts to obtain the Studebaker patterns and materials is appreciated. A word of caution, an old time associate of mine got into the automotive upholstery business a number of years ago, initially focusing on Studebakers. Within a couple years he started telling potential new Studebaker customers he was getting out of the upholstery business and wasn't taking on any new work. The truth was he remained in business, but was so sick of Caso's (Cheap A$$ Studebaker Owners) that he didn't want to deal with them anymore.

I know that's true. It's the only club I know of where some of the members are so proud of being cheapskates they actually have a name bragging about it But of course that's not all Studebaker owners, and the need still needs to be filled. And anyway we have no plans on specializing in just one brand. Unrealistic people are part of any potential customer base, part of running a business is dealing with them as they come along. After 50+ years in business I have found that most people mean well, but there are always some to weed out.

All of the patterns, material and machines were purchased by a guy in Colorado. I don't know how much he paid for it, but it filled a large UHaul truck. I hope we will see a new Studebaker upholsterer in the future!

This is (hopefully) great news! We have no plans in specializing in any one brand; I was more about trying to keep the Studebaker stuff from going into a dumpster. Hoping that the new owner turns up at some point with what his plans are! Here’s hoping he’s going to step forward as an interior vendor, and not just stash everything unused until it’s forgotten and tossed away… Which happens all too often. CASO or not, it’s still a need to be filled. Is there anybody else specializing in Studebaker work?

Thank you for the update! That will be great to see when he gets the operation up and running.
