  • Making progress- '54 Conestoga wagon

Been working on this every time it warms up for several months. This is the final coat of high build primer (started with epoxy, two coats of high build, blocking in between). Expect to take it to final paint in the next two weeks (not tackling that myself). Have been able to find new and NOS bumpers , wheel covers and chrome for 90% of the car. Still need outside mirrors, antenna, and a few other pieces. Click image for larger version

It's a lovely car, even in primer.

Looking Good! That front Fender to Hood, Grille and Cowl fit looks really good, straight, and close, better than most.

Looks OK in the photos, in reality needs a bit of tweaking. How are these two adjustments done?

      1) Hood , at front, needs to move to drivers side 1/8"

      2) Passenger door, at front, needs to come in 3/16"

Rubber Gaskets at Rear of Fenders to Cowl and Body shims as needed.

So instead of trying to adjust the door, I should unbolt the fender and use shims or rubber washers to bring it out 3/16"?

Not exactly, Studebaker and our Studebaker Vendors Sold/Sell complete GASKETS, full height of the Cowl to Fender to adjust Front to Rear fit.
Also you can shim with Rubber & Steel Shims the Front Clip to frame for Up/Down adjustment.

I have a '55 Conestoga but the original engine is long gone so I will be taking some liberties such as the new-to-it Studebaker engine, modified suspended brake pedal and front disk brakes. I hope to have it on the road within the next six months...
