  • 56H-K7 Sky Hawk Registry?

    Just curious,
With only 3/4 as many Sky Hawks produced as Golden Hawks has anyone attempted a registry of '56 Sky Hawks?
I know it's a thankless job so, no, I'm not offering to start one.

I tried to through the Golden Hawk group but never got any response. I think there are just too few owners to make it doable.

Gary Talbert at skyhawkroster@gmail.com started a Register for 1956 Sky Hawks around 1975. In 1991, I set up a we page for him where owners could register their 56H with him. I would get the registration, through the 56J Register web site, and forward it to Gary. Several times through the years, I received complaints of no response. I learned a little more about web design, a figured out how to divorced myself from the middleman position, and set up the Sky Hawk web page to to put Gary as the email recipient.

Some time later, Ronald Wakefield at ronwake1@cox.net expressed an interest in a Sky Hawk Register, but we didn't want to undermine Gary's effort. Instead, I set up a Yahoo message forum for Ron and 56H owners. It did not attract very many participants. Several years ago, Yahoo dropped its forums, so this one met its demise at that time.

I'm not sure if Gary and/or Ron are doing anything about maintaining a roster, but they would be the ones to contact for any more information.

Unfortunately, Registers come and go all the time, because most don't serve any real purpose. There have probably been at least 10-15 Registers for 53-54 C-K models, and I don't believe any are still active.

If you are just going to collect a bunch of names and numbers, what's the point?

It would be hard to guess how many of those Rare and beautiful Birds are left, way less than '56 Golden Hawks, I'd say 20 to 30 still in One piece would not be far off.

StudeRich You could be very close with your estimate. There are 43 Sky Hawks listed in the 2021 SDC Roster. I don't know how many are road worthy or simply projects that will never get finished.

Plus, the Roster is woefully inaccurate. Here is an example. Gary Talbert, mentioned in my earlier post, is listed as owning two Sky Hawks. To my knowledge, Gary hasn't owned a 56H for at least 20 years. Since SDC doesn't track Serial Numbers, it is possible that those same two cars could be listed as owned by one or two other owners, further compromising the numbers.

There are 149, 1956 Golden Hawks listed in the same SDC Roster.

I received an error that the previous post didn't make it. Apparently, I can't delete the second one.

Well, I have a very original one, but in need of much work. Here's a picture of what it should look like if I ever get it done. Snowcap White over Sunglow Gold from the factory. Click image for larger version

ID:	2011151Been accumulating parts and getting some plating done for a couple years, and DID receive the interior kit from René after waiting almost two years. But want to get all the mechanicals and electricals accomplished before making it pretty.
              I'm a one-man operation, so I'm looking at at least a decade.
