  • 205-75-15 vs. 215-70-15

For an Avanti, any advantage of utilizing the 215-70-15 as opposed to the 205-75-15?

The wheels on my Avanti were off a MoPar Cordoba.

While the wheel width should be a little wider (7") for the 215, for best overall performance...
The 215 is overall diameter is a touch shorter than with the 205 series.
And the 215 is a touch wider than the 205.

A quick look into to most any tire comparator will tell you this info ! All over the internet.
Is there any advantage to the 215...yeah, most probably easier to find. It was for me.

According to Tire Rack stats on Hankook Kinergy,
        The 205/75 is 5.3" tred , 20lbs, 27" diameter, 769 revs per mile.
The 215/70 is 6.1" tred, 21 lbs, 26.8" diameter, 776 revs per mile.
Are you going for performance, looks, speedo accuracy, etc?
I like the 215/70 for light weight, wider, and just a wee bit shorter. It also has a slightly deeper tred.
I also think the 205/75/15 may not have as many choices in brands and models.

Sam, the 215-70-15 fit absolutely perfect on 6.5" Ford wheels under my GT and also my dads '53 Coupe. I don't know about the Avanti , not my cup-o-tea, but if it originally had similar sized tires I'd expect they'd fit fine on it too.

The Pirelli tires on the car now have only 1000 miles on them, over about 20 yrs, so its time to change before some "S" happens. Just want to replace with the closest to a 670X15 tire. The Pirellis are 205-75-15
