  • 1960 Lark Rear license plate mounting holes

Am I the only one who has 4 holes to mount the rear license plate - except the top 2 are inset from the standard holes in state plates? I can certainly attach my license plate using the bottom two holes, but how does one keep water from entering the trunk via the upper two holes. And how do you use a license plate frame? All 4 holes look factory drilled.

The top two are for press in rubber bumpers.

YES, what he said. Rubber Snubber Bumpers, available at S.I. and other Major Stude Vendors. I If you haven't gotten the Factory Parts Manuals yet, you should. AND Studebaler International's Catalog is a must have too!

The Upper License Plate Frame gets 2 Short Bolts to the Lic. Plate only.

The Chassis Parts Catalog, Group 0622, lists 1323104 Bumper, Rear License, except C-D-P

I don’t find this very number listed by Studebaker International, unless they have succeeded it with one of their internal numbers.

Yup, 1323104 is the Lark rubber bumper number. Just because SI doesn't have it in their catalog doesn't always mean they don't have it.

I’ve ordered the bumpers just now from SI. Thank you for all the responses. Do short screws prevent the end of them hitting the paint once the rubber bumpers are installed? In the meantime, I added black duck tape over the top two holes from inside the trunk to prevent seepage when washing the car. I do plan on putting a simple chrome frame around the plate as close to I can find to those in the ‘60 brochure.

I’ve found a frame that has two mounting holes and will install after I receive and install the bumpers from SI. Thanks all!
