  • Engine Identification

I apologize if this is already on the forum, but I looked around and didn't find what I was looking for.

I've got a 62 Champ that has a 6 cylinder engine. It's stuck and I'm not sure if it's worth trying to rebuild it or not. Until I make that decision, I'm looking for as much information as I can get.

    Serial number: 1E24561
    Block Casting: 1554636
Head Casting: Still need to find

What can anyone tell me about this based on these numbers? Is this engine original to the truck?

The production order will list the serial number of the engine that came from the factory in the truck.

You can order the production number from the Studebaker national Museum.

Engine number 1E24561 is correct for a 1962 Champ model 7E5 or 7E10, so it's likely original to the truck.
