  • Got The Studebaker International 2023 Catalog

Very nice of Stude. International to send out a new 2023 catalog. They have lots of cool stuff, but I did notice some items are not found, nor on the website...such as drivetrain (axles) parts. Anyone know if they sold off the "heavy" stuff to Steven Allen or someone or am I overlooking something? The new catalog is thinner than the last.

No brake parts either as well as transmission. Some body nust have bought the stuff. I was told, in Mansfield, OH, that Jim scrapped 1/3 of the inventory when he bought it.

They still have brake, suspension, and electrical (all missing in the catalog) on their website. These are the categories I use the most!

There are now 194 Pg's. vs 366 in Ed Reynold's 2014 S.I. Catalog, but all the Print and Photos have been downsized, so there is still quite a bit there. But on the other hand, a LOT is gone.

        OK, Update here:

I just heard from My Son who posts on Studebaker Addicts Page on Face Book (TOO MUCH) what seems to be missing from the New Catalog:

"THIS is only a Portion of the existing Stock available, please Call or consult the On Line Catalog for more".

I could Not find anything like this in the Catalog.

This is because their plan is to do more small Catalogs later and eventually, a Complete large one, possibly in the future.

By way of the Grapevine from the Owners.

So NOW we know ALL of the Story.

When will we receive updated catalogs from all the other Studebaker vendors???? Probably never. The only option currently available for the rest is a web site or a phone call. Isn't it great that we have one vendor willing to put something in print?

Look at it this way. You actually received something for free in the mail that you can hold in your hands and leaf through. Thanks Jim and Studebaker International for this convenient secondary way to look for parts.

Agreed. I am grateful to Jim and his SI team for going through the expense and effort to produce and mail a catalog

And to be clear, this is a BIG expense to put something like this out.

Couldn't agree more with Studefan...except that I don't want Stude International to "shoot themselves in the foot" by sending out a downsized catalog...it gives the appearance they downsized. I always buy from "OUR" vendors no matter what, if I can. Stude International was /is always my first choice because they invested so much in our hobby, like Classic Enterprises...well and so many more....I shop Turning Wheels. I know we all do. My post was one of concern...hopefully all the vendors do well. I will always call first... Thanks.

If it were me, everything would be listed online, and the expense of a paper catalog would not be part of the equation. It's hard to swat flies with a computer, but for everything else, paper is moot and expensive. Just the expense of compiling what to list, page layout, printing, packaging, shipping and mailing is a massive undertaking. Now I'll sit back and wait for the screams of "get off my lawn"

I just looked. The entire catalog is on their website w/prices. Hopefully it's up to date.

The problem is, a big portion of Stude owners don't have or use a computer. The only way SI is going to get orders from this group is through a paper catalog and phone calls. Unfortunately we all share the costs of the catalog in item pricing. Maybe a small penalty to pay?

I know how to use a computer (obviously), but I do find the paper catalog more convenient to use than fat-fingering in each part number on a web site. When assembling an order, I usually have five bookmarks and three fingers inserted in different places in the book as I try to decide what I can afford to buy.

In 2016 Ed Reynolds told me it cost $50K to print and mail the catalogs.

                      Dick,
I agree there. 10% of the members in my chapter do not use the internet.

It could also be they get MORE orders by distributing a catalog than they would with just a web site....especially if that catalog was full of the shiny bits, gifts, accessories, etc. like it is now. The catalog is good reading for any Stude owner and may result in an order for something they just can't live without.

I still enjoy having a paper copy, and appreciate the work, and expense that goes into it. Once you are familiar with the catalog, you can find part numbers quickly and speed up the on-line purchase process. As noted over the years, if you don't find the part that you're looking for, give them a call. They may have the part, even if it's not listed in the catalog, or on-line. Many thanks to SI and our other venders.

I stopped in their place last week because I was impressed with their catalogue and wanted to see, in person, the upholstery and dash pads they had advertised. I was very impressed with what I saw and the pricing. Nice people. I think they are doing a great job.
