  • Pinebrook Station wagon

I never heard of a Pinebrook wagon before and a Google search was unsuccessful.
I have this script and can anyone tell me more about it.
It came from a former Studebaker employee Click image for larger version

Bob. Do the attachment pins line up with the Pinehurst emblem’s pins?
I heard a story awhile back on the Pinehurst name and how it came about. Supposedly there was a farm outside of South Bend named Pinehurst and a Studebaker executive who drove past it every day liked the name, stopped by the farm and asked if the company could use it on there 1956 top of the line wagon.

That must be some kind of Pre-Production Prototype Name or Car that Never happened.
Hmm, well it IS about Lunchbox Size!

Maybe it was Too close to the Plymouth Cranbrook!

That would be some real Fun to put one of those on a '56 or '57 Stude. Wagon and confuse EVERYONE at a Zone or International Meet!

The 56-58 station wagon models were all named after high end hotels. (Broadmoor, Provincial, Parkview, Pelham, etc). Most of the hotels still exist.

Pinebrook might’ve been one that Studebaker considered that didn’t make the final cut.

A proposed name for a 1957-'58 Champion four door wagon that was never produced for the domestic market?

Now THAT makes Total Sense Craig!

Whatever it was, it went quite a bit beyond thinking and Talking about it, they Actually Made That or Those Nameplates!
Maybe even a '57 Champion "6", 4 Door Wagon built from a Provincial to show Management!
            A Stillborn Pinebrook!

I guess the Phrase: "Never say Never", applies here as well as what I heard a couple Days ago:

There is a Specially built, ONE of a kind, originally Astra White, '64 Daytona Wagonaire up here in Bremerton, WA that has Documentation showing it was Originally Built as an R2 Super Jet Thrust, Supercharged AND Air Conditioned 4 Speed.
NO, I do not know the Serial Number.

The pin placement is the same as the Parkview script but all but one pin were broken off.
This indicates that someone pried it off.
I am taking bids on the extremely rare piece!

Perhaps Andy Beckman might locate something in the museum archives on the phantom 'Pinebrook' model. I particularly liked his writeup on the stillborn '57 four door hardtop in the February, 2015 Turning Wheels: https://forum.studebakerdriversclub....-feb-s-already
